About the Position
The Central Services Department was established in 2015 and is comprised of Purchasing Services, Mail, Real Property Services, and Fleet Services. This position is responsible for the lead procurement work in the Purchasing division.
The County is seeking a detail-oriented, self-motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Buyer. The Senior Buyer will be the lead worker for procurement activities including technical writing, supplier evaluation and selection, management of procurement systems, contract administration, monitoring, and procurement compliance with applicable rules and regulations.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience and formal education in business or public administration, accounting or a related field. Seeking a self-motivated individual that possesses a strong work ethic and is detail oriented. The ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and foster a culture of high ethical standards for public procurement is key. A flexible, team-oriented individual that is adaptable to competing demands and demonstrates quality customer service and response will be most successful in this role. The ideal candidate will have experience leading a procurement team, be proficient with e-procurement systems, preferably SAP, and Microsoft products.

Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Business Administration or related field. (Job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.) In addition:
Either A: Two years of experience performing purchasing duties as a Buyer II for San Luis Obispo County;
Or B: Four years of complex buying experience, two years of which must be in a public agency.
