ARA Corporate Contracts is looking for a Contracts Director with 12 – 15 years of demonstrated experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) or 10 – 12 years of demonstrated experience (with a Master’s degree) developing complex government and private-sector contracts, with a specialty in government contracts, particularly DOD. This position oversees contracts management for the entire company, across the United States and into Canada, as well as interdepartmental staff at corporate headquarters. The ideal candidate has top negotiation and management skills, along with demonstrated excellent strategic acumen.
The Contracts Director, Applied Research Associates, Inc. is responsible for full life-cycle contract oversight for the company and reports to the CFO. Managing all contract-related and purchasing functions and staff, the person hired will ensure that department operations are in line with corporate objectives and are in compliance with required regulations. The Contracts and Procurement department has responsibilities that include support of proposal and pre-proposal activities, pricing, negotiations, project accounting setup, contract administration, closeout, subcontracting, procurement, administration of government property and small business programs.
What you’ll do as the Contracts Director
Serve as the primary point of contact for Government and Customer contracting officers, as well as government regulatory organizations such as DCMA and DCAA.
Ensure compliance with FAR, DFAR, and applicable regulatory requirements, company policies and procedures.
Manage the Contracts and Procurement staff of around 20 professional and administrative employees.
Personally support strategy and lead negotiations of significant contracts, subcontracts, JV, teaming, and other agreements.
Personally participate in corporate business initiatives that impact contract management, including mergers and acquisitions.
Provide Contracts expertise and guidance to the Board, senior management and company technical staff.
Oversee the maintenance and development of internal Contracts and Purchasing systems, policies and procedures and file management, and implement systems solutions to meet the needs of continued growth.
Contracts Director Requirements
12 – 15 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 10 – 12 years of experience with a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field is required
12 – 15 years of demonstrated experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 10 – 12 years of demonstrated experience with a Master’s degree developing complex government and private-sector contracts, with a specialty in government contracts, particularly DOD.
Proven leadership skills and staff management experience required.
Top negotiation and management skills are a must, along with demonstrated business strategy skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of FAR, DFAR, Cost Accounting Standards and DCAA guidelines.
Must hold or be eligible to obtain security clearance.
Contracts Director Preferences
Experience working with city, local, state, and county procurement rules and regulations.
Experience with Deltek Costpoint is preferred.
NCMA CPCM certification is highly desired.
