As a Technical Purchasing Specialist for Southern California Edison you will be supporting and developing sourcing strategies for the Indirect Procurement group within Supply Management. The Indirect Procurement group manages over $1.2 billion in annual spend for Information Technology, Customer Service, Professional Services, and Consulting Services. It’s challenging but deeply rewarding work. You’re interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills will be fully exercised as you manage a variety of strategies that focus on value creation, cost savings, continuous improvement, and risk mitigation. You will be responsible for supporting and maintaining data analytics pertaining to the development and optimization of sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives. You will lead/participate in competitive solicitation, supplier selection, achievement of applicable Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), contract negotiation and development.
Represents the Company as a primary contact in transactions involving the purchase, lease, or licensing of materials, supplies, equipment, services, and/or technology.
Participates in and may direct the development, negotiation, and procurement of moderately complex purchase orders, change orders, requests for proposals, and contracts/agreements.
Negotiates amendments to contracts/agreements as required.
Ensures achievement of the best value to the organization by coordinating the bid process and making recommendations for contract awards of moderate value.
May participate in or lead strategic sourcing studies, forecasts, and cost projections with moderate impact on business and operational strategy.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and consultants as well as corporate managers, supervisory and non-supervisory personnel.
Interprets contract provisions, resolves unusual or politically sensitive disputes, and resolves complicated invoice and payment issues.
Provides advice, solutions, and recommendations on decisions having moderate to major impact on the organization.
May make final decisions consistent with organizational authorization levels.
On occasion may provide functional direction to other agents.
Performs other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Three or more years of experience in purchasing, contract management and negotiating contracts.
Knowledgeable in and able to effectively use PC software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
Typically possesses experience and knowledge of Supply Chain processes and supporting activities.
Demonstrated experience utilizing Ariba Sourcing, Contracting, and P2P modules.
Demonstrated knowledge and decision making experience of purchasing practices and policies.
Typically possesses experience and knowledge of procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions.
Experience with industry best practices, standards, utility regulations, procedures and compliance as they relate to purchasing.
Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Experience analyzing information and making strategic decisions regarding scope, impact, policy, development, and implementation.
Typically possesses three or more years' experience in negotiating, contract management or purchasing.
Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, including oral presentations, formal correspondence, contractual documentation, and negotiations.
Must demonstrate effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovations.
Demonstrated ability to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.
Must demonstrate the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
Must demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Experience using SAP software in a purchasing environment.
