Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) Corporate Contracts department is seeking a principal contracts professional with 7-9 years of experience in FAR/DFAR based government contracts. This position supports program managers and senior executives of the ARA divisions in the Northern Virginia Area as well as interdepartmental staff at Corporate Headquarters in Albuquerque, NM. The ideal candidate has excellent communication and customer service skills, works well in a team environment, and is detail-oriented and organized.
Conduct proposal review, contract negotiation, and administration of major government and commercial contracts. Review estimates of labor, material, equipment, and production costs for compliance with estimating system. Ensure the contract is in accordance with legal requirements, customer specifications, and government or commercial regulations. Prepares and disseminates information throughout the company regarding contract status, compliance, modification, deviation, negotiation, and termination. Serves as point of contact for customers. Acts as advisor regarding legal requirements, customer specifications, and government or commercial regulations.
What you’ll do as a Principal Contracts Administrator
Administers contracts, including negotiation, correspondence, documentation, certification, for major contracts.
Administers contract terms from proposal stage to project close-out in accordance with relevant regulations.
Coordinates approval of negotiations, contracts, and subcontracts with appropriate management staff.
Provides advice and interpretation of contract requirements to program managers and senior executives.
Supports preparation of cost proposals including pricing review and cost proposal risk assessment; leads organizational conflict of interest assessments.
Prepares and/or reviews non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, and other miscellaneous contractual documents
Coordinates with program managers to ensure contract requirements are fulfilled.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant contractual procedures and practices.
Participates in special projects as required.
Principal Contracts Administrator Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (in Business Administration or related field) or equivalent experience (minimum of seven years of related government and commercial contract experience with a bachelor's degree or eight years of experience without)
Seven to nine years’ of related government and commercial contract experience
Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other government agency supplements
Must be customer service focused and have excellent time management skills
Must be able to prioritize, plan and analyze and execute multiple and complex contract related activities
Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills
Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and well organized
Requires ability to communicate well (both verbal and written), and work collaboratively as team members and/or on an individual basis
Intermediate to proficient skill level
Strong presentation skills

Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
