Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is seeking a Sr. Construction Contracts Administrator to add to our dynamic team.
Under direction, a Senior Construction Contracts Administrator supervises public works construction contract administration activities; and performs highly complex construction contract administration work.
This advanced professional is the working supervisory level in the series. Incumbents supervise professional, support staff and consultants in addition to performing highly complex public works construction contract administration work. This class is responsible for a major functional area and must use substantial judgment and initiative in resolving problems and making recommendations, particularly regarding contract change orders and claims. This class works closely with contractors and VTA's Construction Operations staff. The Senior Construction Contracts Administrator is distinguished from the Contracts Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for VTA contract administration activities.
Classification Bargaining Unit: AFSCME
Sufficient training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the above tasks and the possession of the following knowledge and abilities.
Development of the required knowledge, skills and abilities is typically obtained through training and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in Engineering or Construction Management, and four years of experience performing advanced level construction contract administration activities, particularly negotiation of change orders and construction claims, one year of which must have been in a lead, supervisory or management capacity.
A four year business degree will be considered in lieu of an Engineering or Construction Management degree if the applicant has demonstrated sufficient experience in Construction Contract Administration to possess the required knowledge and abilities.
