Reporting directly to the Corporate Counsel, this person will work with Senior Management, Project Managers and technical staff to maintain an acceptable level of risk in SGH’s client relationships and other business areas. The individual in this role will be a member of a small corporate legal department and must be able to manage competing priorities
What You’ll Be Doing:
Review firm contracts in accordance with company policies, insurance coverage, legal and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate closely with Senior Management, Project Managers, and technical staff and provide contract subject matter advice/guidance to mitigate risk.
Review nonstandard contracts, including but not limited to, project contracts for private and public clients, subconsultant and subcontractor agreements, requests for proposals, and confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements. o Obtain input from insurance broker and outside counsel where necessary. o Provide feedback to Principals, Project Managers and technical team on contractual language of concern.
Provide risk management education on contract language via articles published in internal newsletter, postings on the department’s internal website, in-house presentations and roundtables, and other briefings and notices.
Attend and report on risk management seminars and other educational activities provided by broker, legal counsel, and other industry members.
What You’ll Need:
7+ years of applicable experience working in a corporate environment or the construction industry.
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, a commitment to teamwork, and good judgment are essential.
Given the varied and often time sensitive responsibilities of this job, this individual must also be organized and have excellent prioritization and time management skills
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, mouse, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level.
